Everything Pretzel Dogs
These have a flavor explosion in every bite! Finger foods that are perfect for a movie night or kids play date. Adults can also love them too! ;)
Note - you can always buy pre-made pizza dough and use that instead of making your own, although it won't tase as good!
Ingredients
-
3/4 cups warm water
-
1/2 tablespoon sugar
-
1 teaspoon kosher salt
-
1 teaspoon baking soda
-
1 teaspoon active dry yeast
-
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
-
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
-
1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
-
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
-
Vegetable oil for greasing (PAM is OK too)
-
5 cups water
-
5 or 6 hot dogs
-
1 egg yolk beaten with 1 tablespoon of water
-
1/4 cup Everything seasoning

Prep Time: 1 hour
Cook Time: 30 minutes
Total Time: 1.5 hours
Yield: 10 servings
Directions
-
In the bowl of a stand mixer, combine the warm water, sugar and salt and sprinkle the yeast on top. Let stand until the mixture begins to foam, about 5 minutes. Add the flour, butter, Italian seasoning and Parmesan. Fit the mixer with the dough hook attachment and beat on a low speed until the ingredients are well combined. Increase the speed to medium and knead until the dough is smooth and pulls away from the sides of the bowl; 4-5 minutes.
-
Remove the dough from the bowl, clean the bowl and then oil it well with vegetable oil. Return the dough to the bowl, cover with plastic wrap and let stand in a warm place until the dough has doubled in size, 60 minutes.
-
Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Line 2 half-sheet pans with parchment paper and lightly brush with vegetable oil.
-
In a pot, bring 10 cups of water and baking soda to a rolling boil.
-
While waiting for water to boil, dump out dough onto a floured surface and divide into equal pieces - depending on the amount of dough will dictate the required number of hotdogs. Roll each piece into ropes and then roll a rope around an entire hotdog, making sure to secure the ends. Repeat with the remaining dough and hotdogs. Place on the prepared sheet pan.
-
One at a time, place the pretzel dogs in the boiling water for 30 seconds. Using a large flat spatula, remove them from the water and return to the sheet pans. Brush the top of each pretzel with the beaten egg mixture and sprinkle liberally with the Everything seasoning. Bank until dark golden brown, 12-14 minutes.
-
Transfer the pretzel dogs to a cooling wire rack and let cool for at least 5 minutes. Enjoy!
